“Quebrante” and “quebranto” share an evil look as the cause and have similar manifestations. The main difference is the patient's age. In the communities studied, both affect only babies and small children, whereas in other locations of Brazil, “quebranto” affects primarily children (Maciel and Guarim Neto, 2006), and “mau olhado” affects adults.
